Double, Queen or King?

My husband and I have always slept in a double bed. When we married my mother gave us her bedroom furniture which she had had for years. It had a double bed, so all our sheets were double.

At first I had a hard time falling asleep, because lying with someone else kept me awake.

But I got used to it. And when we went to buy new bedroom furniture a few years ago, so we finally had some quality stuff (that didn't squeak :), we bought a double again. The man at the store was amazed. No one buys doubles anymore. But I like sleeping where I can feel him. Usually at least my feet are touching him.

We've been travelling a lot lately, though, and sleeping in hotels where they have Kings. That's a weird feeling. I can never find him! Even in a Queen he seems so far away. And on King beds they give you three pillows. Who is the third one for, anyway?

So I'm wondering, what do you sleep on? And why? I think I'll always be a Double kind of gal, but what about you?

I remember on the way to our honeymoon, we stayed at a hotel in Austin, and slept in a king size bed. I rolled onto my side, then scooted back a little, then a little more, then a little more, and some more... trying to snuggle up against my new hubby. I finally looked over my shoulder to see him very amused on the other side of the bed! It was huge!

We had a queen for probably the first 7 or eight years we were married. Then we moved up to a king. I love it! I need my space during the night. I like to snuggle just until I'm about to fall asleep, then, I don't want anybody touching me. Which is probably partly why we don't let the kids in our bed!

When I was a kid....all us kids had singles...then I went to a queen when I first got married...I've never had a double....although I have slept on them at others homes...Kings are too big...I agree...I can't find my husband...only ever had one of those in Vegas. I'm a queen girl!

We bought a King a year ago when we moved into a new home. The master bedroom is huge and needed a large bed. We love it. And whenever my husband is away the kids love climbing in.

We just bought a king after sleeping on a queen for 11 years. At first it was strange because there is the 'wow, we're so far apart' feeling. For us it was a good choice though because he sleeps well and I am a hopeless insomniac that tosses and turns most nights. It lets us have the intimacy of being in the same bed without my poor husband going to work tired every day.

We are in a queen, only had a full for a few years while in a small apartment. When we travel and are in kings, he is just TOO far away.

we have been married for almost a year and a half, and we have a queen. I would love to have a king, because he is a bed hog! haha. And I dont sleep well if someone is touching me. I hope I can get used to it and sleep better!

Queen, because it was what was in the house that we bought after we got married. My hubby is also a big guy, and even in a queen bed I often end up on the edge of the bed when he tries to snuggle up while I'm sleeping.

When we got married, DH had been sleeping on a full (double) for years, and I'd slept on a twin all my life. Since he was used to having all that space, it was an interesting time! I kept waking up with his arm or leg draped all over me somewhere, and heaven forbid I get up to go to the bathroom - I'd come back to 6 inches of space! We very quickly realized that it wasn't cutting it, and went and got a king sized bed. :-)

The king was also great when we had kids - both kids ended up spending time in the bed with us, and that would not have worked in anything smaller, especially since I'm a large lady (unfortunately).

I love our king, and I feel funny when I have to sleep in anything smaller!

The first year of our marriage, our bedroom was the size of a large closet, so we slept together in DH's super-single waterbed. As soon as DH graduated college and we moved to our first home, we bought a king-sized bed.

Cuddling is super great, but we both like our space when we sleep, and we both ended up with bruises from arms or legs flopping over. We now have 2 little dogs who sleep with us, and there's stillp plenty of room. Plus it was great for nights when one of the kids got scared or there was a bad storm. Room for all of us.

We slept on a double beds for the first 18 years we were married. We then got a queen, but we still always sleep touching each other.

My hubby is 6'3" 290# so when we get put in a hotel room with a double I get NO sleep because I get a whole foot of bed to sleep on. We have always slept on a King with 6 pillows. LOL! I can't imagine sleeping on a double every night. I can't sleep with someone touching me. When the kids would climb in our bed I would push them towards DH knowing that he will sleep right through it anyway.
That being said I also don't sleep good when DH is gone so I guess even in my sleep I can "feel" his presence. Besides the fact that he is like a human furnace so it is cold when he is gone.
Smiles!

For the (nearly) seven years we've been married, we've slept in the double bed I had in my bedroom in high school. It never really bothered us until we slept in a super-nice king bed during our "babymoon" a couple of summers ago. Now that mattress, in king size, is at the top of our list for furniture to buy when we build our next house.

Of course, we also plan on having at least four children, so a king sized bed may be a necessity for Saturday morning pile-ons...

We sleep on a queen - which somehow isn't nearly big enough on the weekends when all 3 little boyz climb in bed with us!

I love going to hotels and sleeping in a king-size - room to sprawl out!
